I find this fascinating because conservatives believe the exact opposite is true about non-conservatives....
Maybe we are both being fooled?
Divide and conquer?
not sure I agree exactly but I'm certain of two things:
1) there is little to no sharing of information sources across our political divide
2) if both sides can commit to non-violence, we'll be okay
I agree with you.
Also, I can't help but ask this. As a non-conservative, do you believe that most of the rioting and looting (protesting) this year were done by conservatives, and or white supremacists etc?
Well, I think that rioting, looting, and protesting are 3 different things. Here in Minneapolis this summer, looting was equal opportunity, protesting was leftists. The fires (with the possible exception of the 4th police precinct) were the work of out-of-town white supremacists, who targeted immigrant-owned businesses, post offices, and small grocery stores. As far as I can tell nationwide, only white supremacists are attacking random people with cars, guns, and thrown objects.
It's possible that one or more who would self-describe as "antifa" started fires, but "Antifa" is not really a group or even a set of tactics; it's just a descriptor for anyone who opposes fascism. I think often when people refer to "Antifa" as a group or movement, they are really referring to Black Bloc. Those are the radical leftists who wear all black and anarchy symbols, covered their faces before covid, and like to break windows.
Phew! Now I am getting schooled by someone from the inside! I have never in my life heard of "Black Bloc". Thanks for that.
However, because "Antifa" literally means "Anti-fascist", and because conservatives, Republicans, and white males are the ones who get labeled as "fascist", I would have to say that it is mostly people who are liberal, Democratic, or non-white who are Antifa.... And literally every depiction I have ever seen or heard of Antifa they are described as wearing all black and covering their face and committing acts of violence and vandalizing neighborhoods.
So once again, I find it fascinating that people on the left perceive the people on the right as the primary agitators of these violent events we have seen on TV (rioting, looting, protesting etc), but people on the right perceive it as the exact opposite.
Maybe both sides are being played against each other? A massive identity politics scam. Divide and conquer?
Sorry. I have to do this. It wasn't just "out-of-town white supremacists" that lit all 135 fires in Minnesota.

You're right Chris, it was not only outside agitators starting fires. Who played the biggest role in all the chaos? How does it break down in other cities that have had unrest? That's a long discussion and I'm not sure I have the time for the due diligence.
However, I stand by the above cartoon, which is about assault rather than arson. I think if you look at the leadership of Black Lives Matter, Black Visions Collective, all the way up to Bernie Sanders/AOC/BIden and Harris, the message is always to engage in peaceful, non-violent protest. Violent tactics are considered fringe on the left, and even "violent" protest almost always stops at property damage. Contrast that with right leaning groups that go armed and embrace violence like the Proud Boys, Boogaloo, Unite the Right, Kyle Rittenhouse, and at the top you have Donald Trump, who let's face it, calls for anything but peaceful protest.
